hey
i need to create an application on a virtual directory on a remote server and my isp told me to use interdev. they won't give me any support and i couldn't find any information about this on the net.
never used interdev before (a proud and happy user of homesite :)...
cheers.

Interdev uses Front Page server extensions (FPSE) to create directories and for file transfers. You could also try Frontpage to create the virtual directory. Basically, FPSE is a sort-of FTP system, only it uses HTTP protocol rather than the FTP protocol. This means that your isp does not need to provide a separate - and slightly insecure - FTP channel. Actually, I don't believe FrontPage will create the application. It will create the Virtual Directory, but not the app. To create the app, you will need Interdev. When you go through the Project Wizard, enter the name of the Virtual Directory as the application name. It will create the application without overwriting your current code (Though I'd make a backup first, just in case ;) ). It will ask if you want to add the Script Library, which you don't need.
I've never used Interdev remotely with an ISP (We host our all of our development stuff locally). Let me know how it goes.
