Create a number for each day 1

php newbie here.

Could someone help with what I think is a simple piece of php?

I need a number for every day of the year. e.g. Jan 1st = 1, Jan 2nd = 2,... Dec 31 = 365 (or 366).


How can I do that in php?

echo date("z");
