We are running TWS 8.1 and JSC 1.3... the MDM is on a Linux server. What steps do I need to take to set up a new JSC user.

Have set up user on Linux
Have set up security file...

what else?

Am an old maestro user, used to the old GUI...

do i have to make changes to tivoli framework?

your help appreciated.

You have to link the maestro account to a Framework administrator. The JSC authenticates against the TMR and allows you to launch the JSC console. That's the only authentification it does at the Framework level. Access to Maestro objects are still managed in the Security file as in earlier products. You will have to modify your Security file to include the Framework adminsitrator you linked your maestro id to.

user TWSAdmin
cpu = @ + logon = TWS_Admin, maestro, root
begin
# anything on any cpu
userobj cpu = @ access = @
job cpu = @ access = @
schedule cpu = @ access = @
resource cpu = @ access = @
prompt access = @
file name=@ access = @
cpu cpu = @ access = @
parameter cpu = @ access = @
calendar access = @
end

The TWS_Admin entry above is the name of the Framework Administrator. You would create a Framework Administrator via the Tivoli Desktop, choose Edit Logins, and add maestro@yourmdmname. When you launch the JSC as maestro, it will map the maestro account to the Framework Administrator, and allow you to launch it.

Hope this helps. (I'm crap at explaining things.)
