I need to create some groups based upon values. For example I have the items grouped by values now I need to take the values in the group and put them into another group. they are grouped because the duplicated values need to be removed.

Groups would be:
Dog1
Cat1
Fish1
Hamster1
Dog2
Cat2
Fish2
Hamster2

I am wondering if there is a way to take dog1, cat1, fish1 and hamster1 and make that a group titled 1 and
Dog2, cat2, fish2 and hamster 2 etc....

Any ideas?

Thanks

If I cast the string using a formula such as
IF assessment.value = "dog1" then "1" Else
IF assessment.value ="cat" else assessment.value

Could I then put that formula into a group and sort based on it?

There are two ways to do this..

First method needs two formulas: One formula to identify the Group Sequence and the second to do the Group Name. The benefit of this approach is the formulas can be copied to other reports to do the same grouping

The Second method uses the "Specified Order" feature of Groups. Select your field and a sequence of "Specified Order". Create the various groups with a name and selection criteria. Doesn't require any formulas, and works best with a small limited set of group values. Major disadvantage is that the grouping can't be copied to another report.

Please don't start multiple threads on the same topic. I just responded to your first thread.
