Firstly, I'm new to DB2 so please accept my apologies if this is a no brainier.

I had to format my computer so I created a backup file of my DB2 database. When I reinstalled everything on my computer and tried to create a database from my backup object it will not work as DB2 does not have any history of the backup. What do I do short of creating the database again and entering all the data.

Regards,
Hugh

If you are familier with GUI tools of control center use database -- > create -- > database from backup .

On the Description page:

Type the name of the database that you want to create in the New database name field.

Type the drive on which the database is to reside in the Default drive field. (For UNIX-based systems, this field is called Default directory.)

Type an alias for the database in the Alias field.

Type a comment for the database in the Comment field.

Click on Manually enter the backup image information. Use the fields that are displayed with Manually enter the backup information to specify the backup image that you want to use.
Since you have not already created a backup image of the database from this administrative client, Manually enter the backup image information is preselected because the recovery history file for the database does not contain any backup history for the database.

On the Roll-Forward page, clear the Leave in roll-forward pending state check box. This makes the database usable immediately after the create operation. (By default, this button is on).

Click on OK to create the database.

Think this will help you out, for further detail feel free to contact.
