Right click on the "My Computer" icon and select Properties. On the General tab under system properties you will see some general information about your computer including the OS version, the register user and the Windows serial number. Below that you will probably see the logo of the computer manufacturer and a button labeled "Support Information..."

This little tip will allow you change the logo to your company logo (or any other, if you prefer) and display several lines of information when the "Support" button is clicked.

First, locate the \windows\system\oemlogo.bmp and \windows\system\oeminfo.ini files and back them up (in case you change your mind and decide to display the originals).

Next, obtain a copy of your company logo and resize it to 180x114 pixels (try 160x120 if you have problems getting a good display). Save it as \windows\system\oemlogo.bmp. Start notepad and edit \windows\system\oeminfo.ini. Try these settings for starters (you can always change the values later):

[general]
Manufacturer=Built by Tek-Tips
Model=and supported by 60,000 members.
[Support Information]
Line1=For technical support:
Line2=Log on to Line3=and go to the PC Hardware Forum

Line6=
Line7=You will receiving a working
Line8=solution much faster than if
Line9=you had called a manufacturer's

Save the file, close notepad, right-click on "My Computer" and select Properties. You should see something like this:

Click the "Support Information..." button and you should see this:

Have fun.

That's a good idea, Tim. I'd love to see a FAQ on that subject and I believe the information would come in handy for all the Tek-Tip members responsible for software deployment within their companies. Looking forward to it!
