create a curved shape in photoshop

Hi

I want to create a curved band shape in photoshop that goes from one side to the other but I'm having trouble. I looked at the pen tool in paths but i'm unsure how to create the two curves so i can fill with an image. any ideas would be grateful

two circular or oval selections - the intersection of both - should do the trick. you might have to use the area outside your canvas to get the effect you require

If you just want an arc you can create a line with the pen tool (2 points) then add one in the middle and drag it upwards.

This will give you a little more control of the overall effect.
