Create 3d object from image?

Hi..

Quite new to Flash here.. So here's hopefully an easy beginner question.. I have an object, a baseball.. I would like to make a flash movie of the object rotating, and then do some zooming..

What I think from reading quite a bit, is that I need to somehow convert the image that I have of the baseball, into a 3d object.. But I'm not sure where to go from there.. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Unfortunately flash does not natively support 3d.
There are some actionscript libraries out there that can simulate 3d, but won't be for the beginner.

Hmm... Right now (from playing around).. I have some 100 pictures taken, moving the ball a bit each time.. Like a flip book.. Would you recommend a different way of approaching the problem?

you can import those images as a series of frames, sure
