CRC Error in php-4.0.4pl1.tar.gz

Hello everybody,
I am new to PHP and want to install it on Linux (Redhat 6.2). I downloaded the php-4.0.4pl1.tar.gz from

http://www.php.net.

When I tried to unzip it using tar zxvf php-4.0.4pl1.tar.gz, I get an error saying : "invalid compressed data - crc error. Child returns status 1. Error exit delayed from previous error". It created some of the subdirectories before reporting the above error. Can someone help me out please

Re-download the PHP source. The error you are getting is due to a corrupt compressed file.

Thanx for the reply. But I have already tried it : downloaded 3 times (used Net Vampire), still in vein.
