Whats happens if I drop a chunk thats assigned to a dbspace and in use?

The sane version of this question is:
I have chunk1 assigned to dbspace1 but I really dotn need it there and need to get it assigned to dbspace2. Whats the best way to make that happen? I am not overly concerned with the data in the tables that live in dbspace1...I am simply trying to get my chunk layouts between a couple of test systems configured exactly the same to allow for ontape restores.

I guess the need to restore never occured to the dingaling that used to manage these boxes. Must use ontape...

Thanx!

Hi,

If the chunk, that in question is empty then you can drop it unconditionally.

A severed chunk loses all its attachment with an original dbspace of which it was a part of. You have an option to re-attach it to the same or to other dbspaces freely. Use onmonitor (if available) or onspaces utility to accomplish this operation.
