Crashing my machine

I have a problem with Norton Antivirus crashing my machine on start-up.

Basically, the machine starts to boot, and then as Norton Antivirus loads up, the hard disk seems to go into overdrive and thrashes.

The machine will need to be hard-rebooted before it loads again.

Can anyone help?

Have you tried disabling NAV on startup? You would have to reenable it, but something to try.
