Hi guys,

I am using NT 4.0 SP6a Workstation and use VPN via dial-up connection to connect to my office as I work from home. I have a peculiar problem in that my system crashes with the blue screen of death or suddenly reboots itself unpleasantly WHENEVER I AM CONNECTED THROUGH VPN, but the system DOES NOT crash or reboot itself if I am not connected via dial-up VPN. I have spoken to the telecommunication company as well to check if there is some earthing problem at their end, but after thorough checking, they said that everything was working fine from their side. I had the Electricity Company check the electric circuit at my place, but all the grounding and earthing seem to be perfectly in place. I had the machine sent for complete overhaul and thorough check as well. It works perfectly fine using the same VPN if I work from a different place, but it certainly crashes most often when I work from my home.

I am at loss to understand what this problem could be. Kindly help me with this.

Regards,

Shabmud

After you establish VPN, the routing table changes. If you are running any software background, you may have this crash. So check any errors on event viewer and post back. For more tips or information, go to

Thank you Blin2000 for responding.

I basically use my company software to work from home. All the setup was done by my company techies. The event viewer says "Save Dump." and it goes on to say that "The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bug check was ________________________________ (this is common or may differ on different dumps). A full dump was not saved."

One thing that I have noticed on the blue screen of death is that it says IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.

Kindly help me. My productivity is getting affected because of frequent shutdowns and reboots.

I should be grateful to you or anyone who helps me.

Thank you

Also, I would like to inform you one more thing.

It waits for one second and reboots itself. Sometimes, even the blue screen of death also does not appear, and the system reboots itself. One thing I would also like to tell you is that the event viewer flag color for "Save Dump" is blue and not red or yellow as one may expect.

Thank you.
