Hey,

Has anyone else experienced cracking or popping noises on messages and voice prompts on a Call Pilot 100 version 2.0? Voicemail still works fine, but popping noises are heard throughout the voicemail.

This is what I have tried and I have 2 customers with this problem.

One Customer we replace wiring to the Call Pilot, change ports, reset the database and re-programmed, replace power supply, and physically moved the Call Pilot.

The other customer, we actually replaced the KSU and Call Pilot, and did all the above too, but with no success.

Any suggestions would help.

luv2ski,

Actually, making outgoing and receiving incoming calls are clear as a bell. Doing a F980 and just hearing the message it pops. Staying on idle (feature 985) and just hearing it, sounds normal to me.

I had a customer report this to me, and originally wanted me to come to the site to check it out, but he never called back. So I have heard of it but haven't had a chance to try anything about it.

On a call pilot is it possible for it to be a flash memory issue?

Since I can't redit my post, heres the second half.

I dont think its the Call Pilot, just because we replaced the CP with another, and still had no success.

are you using a manufactured line cord or a home made with iether xconn or station cable??? nortel say luv my good n plenty...nortel says it really rings a bell...nortel say i luv my good n plenty and dont know any other candy that i luv so well?????
yes i lost it there
u should use a line cord not the copper wire

ski season has started

I haven't had the chance to see my customer, but I know I used the supplied line cord, so I don't know what the issue may be. And maybe since I haven't heard from this customer, either the noise is not that bad or it went away. Who Knows

Is this with any message left internal or external?

I seem to always hear a few pops/ crackles with the voice mails. Luckily nobody has complained yet. I never use the supplied cords...I make my own for that sweeeeet custom look.

other areas to look at:
change/filter the power to the phone system. could be electromagnetic spikes on the 110VAC.
Build yourself a mailbox and listen to crackling messages yourself. are they crackling in the same place on the recording? (indication of corrupted data) You can check these from your office at any time then.

When you are out to site, put a Phone on the port & call to another set, if it doesn't crackle that would at least eliminate the B1 on the Norstar. If you leave two messages at the same time do both crackle?

they both snap, crackle, and pop.

Make sure you have a good ground on the system.
The last noisy one that I had was open on the ground wire.
There was a laser printer on the other side of the wall in a different room that made the system noisy every time it printed. Once the ground was corrected, no more noise.

Oh,oh, is the block battle coming back again? I thought that it was the BIX block that was nutorious for bad connections.
Just kidding, and picking on Telemarv since he has such a good name.

Ok, no block debate. That's good! I use MarvO1 because MarvO was taken when I got here. *grinning right back*
You have good answers Telemarv.

There was a known issue with the power supplies overheating and burning out. I wonder if the power supply could be providing unstable power, or if the outlet on site that the Callpilot is connected to is providing spikes or any other power issues that are causing the problem.
