I’ve got a rpt v9.0 created from an xml data source using the ODBC driver that comes w/CR. The driver is version 4.1.
The tables that come from the xml file are: States, Cities, Customers. In the Customer tbl are fields: Name, Address, Phone.

The 3 tables are linked on an id field. The report is grouped on State, City, CustID.
The details section has Customer.Name, Address, Phone. And the report works.

If I open the xml file in a text editor and add another phone number for a customer (with the correct syntax and all). Then reopen the rpt, CR creates a new table called Cust_Phone with the phone numbers and an id field. The table Customer no longer has a field called Phone. The links are now States -> Cities -> Customer -> Cust_Phone.

Ok, fine, I adjust the rpt for the new table and field names and it again works. Just on a hunch, I again edit the xml file and remove the extra phone number. Ba-Da-Bing, Ba-Da-Crash!! Crystal has deleted the Cust_Phone table and added the Phone field back into the Customer table.

I’ve searched the forums and Web and haven’t been able to find a similar problem. Does anyone have an idea of what’s happening or what I’m not doing correctly???????

Thanks
