After two years, I can finally can duplicate the following problem with our Crystal Reports Server. Currently, we have several reports that are accessed by our employees via the Server, Crystal Reports 8.0. If a report has a hyperlink and an employee clicks on it, the problem is created but might not lock up Internet Explorer until a later time.

So, as you are aware, a process called iexplore.exe is running when you run a report (assuming you use Internet Explorer). Now, when you click on a hyperlink in Crystal, a second iexplore.exe process is created. Now, if you were to close down all Explorer windows, you should not have any iexplore.exe processes running. However, after clicking on a hyperlink as describe above, you can't get rid of the extra iexplore.exe process except for physically ending it in the processing area. Sometimes you can close all Internet Explorer windows and have 3 or more iexplore.exe processes.

How does this cause a problem. Well, at times, you will see a windows hand pointing up (what you see when you hover over a hyperlink) all over an Internet Explorer page and causes the problem and you can't click on any links, Crystal page or any Internet hyperlink.

Anyway, any way to fix this so that it doesn't occur?

The relationship between Crystal and IE versions and installations is pretty volatile when it comes to hyperlinking. With this in mind, it sounds as if your problem is localised to a single machine - in which case, it's most likely an IE issue, which may be resolved with a reinstallation of Explorer.

Activate the links from a couple of other clients with IE installed, and specify whether the behaviour is replicated.

Thanks for the reply. However, this occurs on several different machines, machines outside our workgroup, WINNT, Windows 2000, I.E 5, I.E 5.5, I.E 6, etc. Also, throughout the organization, we have three different workgroups using three different Crystal Reports Servers and we all experience the same problem.
