CR8.5 performance against Progress 9.1c

Currently I am using the default ODBC driver supplied with the Progress 9.1 client to access data through Crystal Reports 8.5. Would there be any performance increase if I changed driver from the Merant 3.6 driver to a newer or different one?

If anyone has experience from reporting off a Progress database please reply..... I am desperately trying to improve performance and heard this could be a way forward.
