What do I have to do?

All I want is a DATE parameter. I place the DATE element in the parameter, but it always give me a listing of dates when I go to run the report....and the listing does NOT contain the date I want..

I want to be able to TYPE INTO the parameter an AS OF DATE like: 11/22/2005

and have the report process.

??????????

Instead of allowing me to type in a date, it only gives me the OPTION of DATES from it's listing?????

this is a dynamic parameter.... I THOUGHT>

Thank you.

It is a dynamic parameter if you define it to be dynamic. Most likely it is, and the date you want is not in the database on the particular date field that is driving the dynamic parameter.

I think I understand that, but HOW do I creat it so that I am "allowed" to type in any date I want?

DO I create a STATIC? I'll really only need to run this for as of a MONTH END date, ie. 11/30/2005. Do I need to assign the monthends to the parameter BEFORE they will be available for choosing????

Thank you.

No, in your case a dynamic parameter would be confusing. Edit the parameter and check the static radio button. Your existing list will go away and you will be able to use any valid date. No prepopulated list is necessary, although you could manually load one with period end dates if so desired.
