I need to access some data and wondering if anyone knows anything about a program named AREV.....from Revelation Technologies??

I "think" these are FoxPro Tables (.dbf) but not sure.

Any help would be appreciated.

M

Thank you.

I guess noone has heard of this type of DB?

More info. When I look at the actual tables on the network then END in .OV or .LK extension...

Doesn anyone know if CR XI can access them...and IF SO,...HOW to connect up????

Your expertise and help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

I have been supporting a Revelation database for the 4 years or so. It’s still a bit of mystery to me of how the system works. Any reports I have created have always been generated from the toolset within the application, this is a cumbersome task as it usually involves cutting and pasting large datasets into an excel spreadsheet.

I have considered using ODBC connections as Revelation's website discusses using ODBC connections. I would however like to get a better understanding of how this architecture works and the differences between a RDBMS.

Every time I contact the software supplier to find out about the system, I get given an explanation that does not mean a lot, this is probably my fault as my mind is thinking RDBMS type databases and the two don’t compare very easily.

I would really be interested if you have a working ODBC connection and how you interrogate tables.

Thanks

thank you for your input. Unfortunately, we are unable to query the tables as of yet. I just finished a meeting with someone here that has been working on this system since 1990 and believe me..this is the SAME system as it was in 1992.

right now, the only way to get data out is through the actual program exported to EXCEL. So, I know that I'll be starting out that way, but Crystal is soooo slow when using Excel as a data table.

I'd be interested to see what can be done that would allow Crystal to QUERY the actual data tables themselves?????

Thank you.
