CR returns too many rows

Hello,
I am doing a CR (8.5) that should be a simple join, but is returning too many records. My report uses the Tran table to select specific records daily. When joined to the Rest table where there are more than one record for each acct on the Tran table, so I am getting rows duplicated in my report. I just want to look in that second table for a specific value and return when that value is present.

Hi,
A join will return all records in the second table that match the join field in the first table ( if there is a one-to-many relationship) .
To restrict it, you may be able to
( depending on the data and its structure, which would have been useful to see):

1: add a criteria for the Rest table limiting the records by some field=value formula

2: Create a version of the Rest table that has only unique records based on the field you are going to use in the Join.

Can you show us the structure if the 2 tables?
