Hi Everyone,

I have several reports that I created in CR 8.0. I have just upgraded to CR 9.0. When I went to Refresh them in CR9, it now returns 6 times the amount of data. Each record is listed 6 times in the Details section, so my summaries in the footers are also off by 6x's the amount they should be. I have verified that the records in the table are not duplicated (somehow) 6 times. I have deleted and recreated the table. But, CR still retrieves 6 times the amount of detail data. This did not happen in CR8. Any suggestions or direction I should be looking? I have uninstalled and re-installed CR8 and 9. And, installed all updates and hot fixes. I could just recreate the reports (there are 80 of them), but would like to know what went wrong.

Thanks!

Check your linking to make sure the upgrade did not change the link.

If it did, please post back here.

Hmmm. Linking appears to be the same.

Agent.OfficeID equal join to Broker.OfficeID and
Agent.AgentID equal join to Member.AgentID

just 3 tables, just 2 links.

I can re-create the report as a new report with the same linking and it works. But, I cannot get the old report to come up with accurate data.

Thanks.

Very odd, what connectivity are you using?

I would think it related to connectivity, as it seems unlikely CR would introduce new rows post SQL.

Try changing one of the reports type of connectivity (ODBC to OLE DB) and see if that helps.

1. Try to reverse the direction of the join between Agent and Broker.

2. Are there exactly six broker records in your Broker table?

Connectivity was ODBC. Changed to OLE DB. Did not change the results.

Verified the database. Received message, "The database is up to date."

Reversed the direction of the join between Agent and Broker. Same results. There are several hundred records in my Broker table. I truncated the Agent table and then inserted only one record into it, to simplify the results for testing. I get 6 Agent records returned, when only one is sitting in that table.

I'm stumped.

Thanks for all of your input and suggestions. I'm still trying, but will probably start to recreate the reports. I've spent 2 days on this, so far. I would like to figure out what went wrong, though.

Thanks, -j

Use Database, Show SQL Query and see if there is another table that is included in the SELECT but not in the joins.

No, no other tables in the SELECT statement.

What do you get back if you run the SQL from database-> show SQL query in a just plain database client SQL window?

Do you still get too many?

I had this problem also, and I moved the fields up into the Header instead of the Details section and it seemed to fix itself. Play around with moving the fields to different secitons of the report. That often helps.

What you did to solve this problem? Because I am too having the same problem and almost I have tried all the options.

Clarri,

Please post some details of what you are trying to do. There are many other things that can cause record duplication problems, but the original poster had a very specific set of problems.

having said that I'd like to know what he/she did anyway.

HI I recently upgraded from CR 8.5 to CR 9.0.
I am using DAO to connect to database.
In the detail section each records get repeated for six times. I verified completely.
I used ( {table.field} = next{table.field} and some other method to suppress. But it didn't get suppressed.
Also I want to know can we have two differnt options "Look up both at the same time" option for one table and "Look up all the combinations of the two tables" for the other table
in the "When linking to two tables from this table" options list. In my previous 8.5 version it is like that.
Each time when I change the options in the CR 9
link the previous existing links also changes to the same new option.

Is it behaving different beacuse of this link or its some other bug ?Please help me to resolve this.

OK, we need to revisit basically the entire thread. Are you sure the linking did not change from v8.5 to v9?

Thanks for your quick response.
When I opened the report in CR 9 all the links automatically got changed to "Look up both at the same time" option

wierd.

If you change this back to an equal to link does that solve the problem?
