We are new to Macola and will be using it on a LAN, as well as through terminal server for a remote manufacturing location. On the lan, everything seemed ok. Then I installed Crystal Reports on the server for the TS users to connect to and something isn't right. When we go to open a Crystal Report we get the error message "A number, currency amount, boolean, or string is expected here." It is set up just as on the other computers. Its is a Win2000 Server, which may make a difference I guess ...but I couldn't find anything to suggest it needs to be installed differently. Any suggestions?

A "A number, currency amount, boolean, or string is expected here." error is usually an error that you will get when editing a formula in a formula field. If the exact same report works in all the other systems the only thing I could think of is that the settings for your system that does not work correctly may be set differently such as the Time display, number display etc for the system itself and this is why the formula may not be read correctly.

I could be wrong but that is about all I could think of.

Can you post the formula that returned this error? Software Sales, Training and Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine

It does this with any Crystal Report ...even the ones built in to Macola. The Macola reports open fine. And the Crystal Reports open fine on other computers ...its just the server that has the problem.

I've checked the obvious setting for time, etc and didn't see anything unusual. Perhaps I'm missing something.

Thanks,
Stacy

Stacy,

Do you not see the formula that is returning ths error? Software Sales, Training and Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine

This is caused by one of 2 things, either the user does not have rights to the c:\winnt\system32 directory, or the .dll that enables the custom Macola functions in crystal such as MacolaNumberToDate(), MacolaFOrmatPhoneNumber(), etc., is not registered properly.

The .dll in question is the cruflma.dll. You can manually register this file, but this normally happens when you perform a client install. I suspect it is a rights issue.

If you want to manually register this file use regsvr32 to do this from a dos prompt. Software Sales, Training and Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine

Just a FYI in case someone else comes here searching for an answer to the same problem ...thanks to "dgillz" and someone from Macola we got the problem worked out. Their is a document on their customer portal that helped us. It is doc. # 01.212.534. Basically, the winnt/crystal file has to be copied into each terminal server users directory under their windows file. Thanks to those who helped with this!
