Can I install CR9 and CRXI on the same machine w/ no adverse side effects?

I use CRXI normally but have been asked to work on some old reports that are and must remain version 9. Can I add v9 to my PC or is it wiser to find a different machine for working on the v9 reports?

Hi,
Should be OK, but be sure the install location is different..
I believe the DLLs used are unique to each version, so no conflict should arise..
Note:Dbl-clicking on a .RPT file may open in 9 not XI (or XI and not 9), so I would advise against using that method.

I found only one problem with CR 9 advanced and CRXI R2 SP2 on the same machine. I found I could no longer use CR9 to open a report published in CE 9 as it would not let me connect. Everything else seems fine and i can work on ver 9 reports as required.

Thanks guys. I found that CR9 wouldn't install over XI - it detected a newer version and the installation process would not continue. However, when I un-installed XI and then installed 9 then XI again, it seemed to work.

It's a tedious solution but worked in the end.
