I saw a post similar to the question I am about to ask, but it was with regard to Crystal 7, so I thought that answer might be different because I am using CR 8.

In my report, I am using several Oracle 7 views to group data before bringing it into CR. I used the chart expert to build a chart that displays the value of these views. I am using an advanced chart. In Oracle, I have aliases supplied for these views.

The chart resides in a group header. That group is also an Oracle view. I want the chart to display different charts depending on the area specified.

At run time, the legend for the chart displays "Sum of VW_TBLLINE.ACCELERATED", etc. for each view displayed on the chart. What I would like CR to display is the alias for each view. How can I do this?

Specificaly (and hpefully less confusing), I am grouping by VW_TBLLINE_R7.AREA

And the legend of the chart is displaying:
Sum of VW_TBLLINE_R7.AVAILABLE
Sum of VW_TBLLINE_R7.UNACCOUNTED
Sum of VW_TBLLINE_R7.UNSCHEDULED
Sum of VW_TBLLINE_R7.DELAY
Sum of VW_TBLLINE_R7.ACCELERATED
Sum of VW_TBLLINE_R7.ESTIMATED

Instead of the aliases:
AVAILABLE
UNACCOUNTED
UNSCHEDULED
DELAY
ACCELERATED
ESTIMATED

Can you also add a group in Crystal on this field? (ie insert Group)

If so, you can add a regular group subtotal on the field (highlight the numeric to sum and click Insert Subtotal), and then use a group chart instead of an advanced chart.

This should remove the words "Sum Of" from the legend? Ken Hamady
