Hello,

Software involved; CR8.5, CR9.22, CE 9, Synergy, xfODBC

Here is what happened; I had a basic report setup in CR 8.5 that had 2 parameter fields for start and end date(date type = date). Report worked great. Published to CE for web access and began to get Error on parameter fields stating that a "string was required". On advice I installed CR9.2 as was told it would interface better with CE, Upon opening this report in CR 9 i got a DB change error and was dumped into the Remap function, at this point I discovered all the Date or Date/Time or Time fields in DB were now 6 character string data type. This change was effected over all tables in the DB. I tried to create report from scratch in 9.22 and had same problem.

We are using a Synergy DB application that is vendor configured using Genesis/xfODBC driver interface and setup as a data source in Windows 2000 pro.

What is causing this and how do I fix it so that my reports will work with enterprise?

Thanks for your help with this problem.

Not good...

If it's a SQL database, you might be able to create a SQL Expression to cast/convert it back to a date, but this would mean doing so for each report and using the SQL Expression in lieu of the field everywhere.

It seems as though you've found a buglet in the ODBC connectivity when using CR 9 and Genesis. You might check with Genesis for an updated ODBC driver, that might help.
