CR 8.5, error 80047616, reinstall required?

Crystal Reports ActiveX Designer error '80047616'

This error appeared all of a sudden on both (load balanced) web servers when we try to runa report. Any ideas?

A previous thread is about the same problem.. but no solution posted.
