CR 7 to CR 8.5 distribution files?

I currently have a VB6 app using CR7.0. If I were to upgrade to CR 8.5, would there be files I would need to distribute to users or can I just upgrade on the development computer.

If you use any CR 8.5 features in your reports (such as exporting to pdf), you wouldn't be able to run them with the CR 7 runtime files. That rather begs the question of why upgrade. Also, you'll need to continually save any new reports you create that would be used with the CR 7 app in the CR 7 format rather than the 8.5 format, which is a bit of a pain as well. In fact, if I am remebering correctly, I think you'll always need to use the Save As (cr 7 format) rather than the normal Save option (which means you can never use the Save icon) for any reports you work with in CR 8.5.

I'll grant that upgrading an app is a pain, but you'll not be gaining much by upgrading to CR 8.5 if you don't also upgrade your app.
