On a computer that already had a working version of CR 8.5, I installed Crystal Reports 11. It works fine. 8.5 continues to work fine. However, I do not see how to access my Oracle tables. The Oracle tables are available to the 8.5 install (and are on the list of available databases on every fresh install of 8.5). But they do not appear as available on the CR 11 list of database files.

Is there something else I need to do to make my Oracle tables accessable??

This is from BO in response to similar queries.

"The only version of the Oracle client that is known to work with Crystal Reports XI is version 9.2. It may be possible to get other versions to work, but we can't guarantee that as other versions either didn't work for us, or weren't tested at all."

Hi,
Which version of CR XI did you install - The 'standard' level does not allow access to Oracle ( or other non-PC based databases).

I installed "Crystal Reports XI Developer Edition". The Oracle client installed is Release 8.1.5 for Windows NT.

No way to make them work together???

I have CR XI Developer and the Oracle client is 8.x for Windows NT, and it works fine, although I had to use a different driver--I think it was a Microsoft driver. I'll check later today for the specifics.

I had trouble initially connecting to our Oracle database, until I added a new driver. I am currently using the Microsoft ODBC for Oracle driver version 2.573 7/10/2002 with my CR XI to connect to Oracle 8.0.5. Colleagues have also successfully use CR Oracle8 v.3.6 for reports development, except that there has been an inability to export and refresh "canned reports". Another driver has been recommended to us: CR Oracle ODBC Driver 4.20, which can be downloaded from the Business Objects website: Apparently 5.0 might not work properly with our Oracle 8.0.5.

Thanks. I will try your suggested options.

Wonder if they will affect connection using CR 8.5 on the same PC?? Not a big deal, since I purposely install XI on a notebook I don't use much......

I have 8.0 on the same machine, using a different driver, and colleagues with 8.5 on the same machine as 11.0.

I tried the suggestions. I tried what was in the CR XI help file under Oracle 8x. Still do not see my Oracle tables.......

Guess I won't be using XI any time soon.....
