I have written a CR 10 report with multiple charts. The report is for retirement planning and shows both the possible and probable dates for all fulltime employees to retire.
From this data I have created 3 charts: one line chart to show the spread of 'probable' departures by retirement year, one line chart to show the spread of 'possible' departures by retirement, and one bar chart to show the next 5 years of probable departures.
The third chart is the only one that should show only some of the employees (those who are probable within the next 5 years), but is showing a bar with the balance of the employees and a retirement year of 0. How can I get rid of this bar?

Thanks in advance.

You may want to place the 3rd chart into a subreport and in the subreport limit the data returned using the report->selection formula->record to only those that are required for the chart.

You could use specified order for the "on change of" group (year). Highlight the field->order->specified order->add all possible years to the dropdown->Others tab->check "Discard all others".

I had a similar issue and used the "Specified Order" option but it didn't work fully. On some reports it did and others trying to change the order of the chart didn't.

After chatting with Business Objects about this there are several known issues with changing the chart order. A key one is that if the first column of your stacked bar chart does not include every value for the second "on change of field" then order goes to the defaul and not the specified order. Apparently this is not fixed in CR9, CR10 and they are investigating whether it is fixed in XI. A shame that a issue like this can go through two versions with no fixpacks.
