I watched a great presentation this morning by Udi Dahan on command query responsibility separation. In it he covers:
1. the history of electronic UI/storage
2. what users expect today
3. why most of our design concepts have not evolved to match the business need.
The biggest idea turned on it's head is all data presented to the user is stale. Whether it's 10ms or 10 minutes, it's stale. By embracing this fact we can provide the use with a better experience using the applications. the 3 examples he covered where
1. purchasing tickets
2. ATM withdraws
3. blogs/social networking
I found the presentation to be incredibly insightful and provides new ideas for how to structure my applications moving forward.
I'm open to a discussion if anyone's interested.
