I have a friend who has an HP desktop PC with Win XP Pro. Everytime I try to bring up the Performance Monitor, CPU is being utilized 100% of the time, even when the system is on idle. Tried to close most items in the systray and just left the volume control. Tried to close most of the processes in the task manager and just left system programs running. CPU is still being utilized 100%. Any thoughts? Anyone.

See the slightly earlier thread: thread779-561037 may be some new virus running around. Does your friend use Kazaa, Sharazaa, Limewire, Bear Share, Gnutella, or any other Peer-2-Peer software program?

Is mIRC installed?

What exact name and version of anti-virus and/or firewall software are they using?

Please advise.
