We have 2 routers hooked to a frame cloud and our end users are complaining of latency. When troubleshooting remotely I notice my session will freeze for several seconds at a time. Immediately following the freeze if I do a 'show processes CPU' it shows.....

CPU utilization for five seconds: 83%/1%; one minute: 39%; five minutes: 37%

the process thats causing the most concern is ....

86 657645752 31843359 20652 76.90% 36.18% 34.46% 0 OSPF Router

Thanks in advance.

Check fr utilisation and look at the fecns, becns and de bits.

Possibly FR provider congestion.

router at 80% is okay if you dont add more processes on it. What the?!?!

get in contact with your carrier and have them check the utilization of the pvcs. i think the high cpu load is most likely a contributing factor to slow response time. the router is busy with its ospf tables and might not be able to process in/outgoing traffic. check the memory too and see if you might need to upgrade. might wanna look at streamlining the config. if you got something like hp openview or some other snmp stuff running make sure it doesnt read out the routing tables. i sorta almost killed a 7210 bgp router with that.
