I just got a pentium 3 processor and installed it in my p2 based machine. When booting up error message "167 no processor bios update found" appears and the system shuts down. The bios update for my ibm mother board I found doesnt seem to work. Please, does anyone have any suggestions? I just got my web domain and need the speed.
Thanks

You can't just install a PIII Chip into a PII-Based PC without checking if the motherboard supports Pentium 3s.

BIOS Updates MUST be specific to your motherboard. If you Flash the wrong BIOS, your computer will not start.

Shove the old PII back in, and try to find your motherboard's specification to see if it actually supports PIII Chips, and what Clock Speeds it supports.

Boot from the PII, turn off Processor updating in the Bios, try the PIII again.

Some PII 'boards would use PIII's - BX chipset??

Andy.
