I recently swapped CPUs on a 7043-140 from a 200MHz to a 233MHz. However, it still shows the CPU as a 200MHz. Is there something I need to do after I've made swap to make it recognize the new 233MHz CPU?

# lsattr -El proc0
state enable Processor state False
type PowerPC_604 Processor type False
frequency 199413960 Processor Speed False

Thanks in advance!

Hi

What is the firmware level of 7043-140 ? I will recommend to upgrade it , if it is bit old.

You can also check what processor speed is appearing on hardware level ( by booting it into SMS and checking for system information menu).

when you say you swapped the cpu, the cpu can't be swapped on the 140, it is a system board change.

if you unsoldered a 200mhz cpu and stuck in a 233 it was a waste of time because the 200mhz motherboard sets the clock rate not the cpu.

pls post:
lscfg -vp | grep -p -i processor
and
lscfg -vp | grep alterable
for further info.
