CPU Stuck at 100%

Can anyone help me before I cry. I have Small Biz Server 2k, 1.2GAMD, 256RAM, bags of disk space, everything is working ok, clean event viewer, very few users.

Even when there are no client connections, internet connections, the CPU is stuck hard at 100%. I can't see anything obvious that would cause this but it does concern me because if the CPU is running at full all the time then I'm not getting the best performace and there is clearly an underling problem to cause this.

Does anybody have any trick or tips that can help me?

Does the PROCESSES section of the Task Manager show high utilisation against a certain process? -----------------------------------------------------

As TheLad said, check the processes tab of your Task Manager, and see if there's any one process taking up that much CPU. If you have any 16-bit applications running on the box, then it will show that taking up all available CPU. Since it doesn't know how much CPU to allocate to the program, it allocates everything and then gives it up as you need it for other applications. Marc Creviere

i'm having the same problem... nothing is running and in the processes tab it shows 'system' at max all the time.. and i don't know why??

FilthPig is right on! I had one application that would take up 99% of the CPU even if I stopped all my terminal services and internet connections. Once I ended that one application everything was fine.

It's just a process of elimination.

As previously mentioned, use TaskManager/Processes to determine which thread is using all the cpu power, then end that process....

I presume this issue occurs from bootup ?
is it specific to one user i.e. admin that is logged on ?

try logging out, and using performance monitor on another pc, check the server's usage etc....
