My NW 5 server is pinned at 100%. How can I find what is causing this? This box is not used for File and Print. It is our repository for DAT file updates.

Are there lots of files being written and read? How much RAM is in the machine?

4 Gb of RAM. After a reboot of the server the CPU dropped to a manageable 19%. Overnight the CPU climbe to 100 and stay till the next reboot.

is the dats being ftp'd from mcafee?

19% isn't normal either. That's way too high by my standards.

Check your mcafee config and make set some reasonable configurations.. like, only scan files being put on the server.. Little things like that will help.

I believe it is a safe bet to say you don't need to scan outgoing files, especially if they were scanned before they got written in the first place..

What exact version and service pack are you running?

Marvin Huffaker, MCNE

Does it have the latest service pack? I have seen tsafs.nlm peg a server when not packed.
