We have several users which are all reporting the same symptoms. Randomly throughout the day when switing back to Notes from another application, by simply clicking on the task bar button, the mouse cursor starts flickering very quickly back and forth between a normal mouse pointer and the busy mouse pointer. When I go to see the user, the CPU is at 100% and notes is frozen. When I check the processes in task manager, winlogon and nlnotes are fighing over the CPU. Seems the only way out of this situation is to end task nlnotes.exe. This of course means that they have to re-boot to be able to open notes again (however recently I installed "ZapNotes" for them so they will not have to re-boot to open notes again.). I have done everything from completely uninstalling notes and doing a fresh install, to completely wiping the HDD and re-install the OS and everything. We are using Dell GX150's, Win2kPro with SP2, 256 MB Ram, P III 1GHz, 20 GB HDD, and Notes 5.0.5 (we also tried 5.0.7 on a machine but it still displayed the same symptoms).
Please note, these people are not notes admins, and are only using the notes client (no domino administrations being done or anything like that, just simple everyday usage).
The symptoms are random, and we can not replicate the symptoms.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance!!

~Bill :)

Two suggestions - one, try deleting CACHE.DSK on the workstation, two, back up to client 5.0.3. We have hundreds of users on Win2K Pro, client 5.0.3. Other problems now and then, but never the one you describe.

Thanks for the response Fred. We already tried deleting the cache.dsk, no change. We were also thinking about trying 5.0.3, but was hoping there was another option first. Thanks again, I guess we'll give 5.0.3 a try.

How many users you have? What is your servers hardware configuration?
