Everyone's nightmare... almost...

One of my helpdesk staff has inadvertantly hit the dis/enl toggle on the CMDU for CPU 0. Consequently, my Opt 61c is now running on only 1 CPU with no failover protection. Of course I need to hit the switch and re-enable the CPU - but is it that simple?

Please could someone tell me what the impacts on the switch will be (will it INI or anything else that drastic)? Do I need to do anything once the switch is turned back on to ENL? How can I be sure that, once the switch is back to the right position, that the CPU is available to the 61c to failover to if required? (All tests in LD135 show as OK - even though the CPU is disabled?!)

Many thanks.

The CMDU is disabled not the CPU. The cores should continue to swap during midnight routine but your PBX is running off of one CMDU (Hard drive if you will).

To re-enable the CMDU is relatively simple. You need to put the hardware switch in ENL posistion, software re-enable CMDU 0 in LD 137, SYNChronize with CMDU 1 then ensure that the CMDU 0 is active at the same time as CPU 0 or both are in stand-by mode at the same time. You may need to swap CMDU to accomplish this.

For precise steps, please read the procedure on how to change out a CMDU in the 'Hardware Replacement' section of the 'System Installation and Maintenance" NTPs.
