CPQKGPSA fiber channel card

Hello:

I am working with Compaq servers that have a Fiber channel card in them, attached to a Scalar 100 that periodically has an error 'the device\scsi\CPQKGPSA1 is not ready for access yet" in the event log, event id 15. I would like to find out more about this card and how to troubleshoot problems related to the CPQKGPSA1 error.

Try upgrading the drivers and firmware of the HBA as well as the firmware on the library.

First off is it causing a problem with the backups?
If so is there any conssistancy to when the error happens?
Can you reproduce it?
If so enable logging at the switch and then reproduce the error. Then check the logs to see which port has the most errors. This could tell you if the problem is on the server or switch side. Just because the HBA is producing the errors does not mean it is the source.

Event id 15 is logged in the scsiportlogerror format and includes additional dump data. Use

to read the dump data. This should give you a better idea as to the source of your issue.
