CPPM sig server upgrade method

I am planning to use a spare CPPM card and new hard drives that will have Linux pre-installed and patched and already part of the 7.5 UCM security domain. At the time of upgrading from 5.5 to 7.5, I will add 1gb of memory to the existing CPPM sig servers and also swap out the hard drives. I am concerned about the UCM security domain membership certificate being somehow dependent on the MAC address of the sig server. If it is, then obviously my plan is no good.

I am trying to save time with an upcoming CS1000E upgrade and am wondering if someone has done this before.

thanks

I haven't actually done this upgrade but I have never seen the MAC address come into play when configuring UCM or installing the Linux. The UCM is part of the Linux and NAI file so I think you will be fine. Personally, I wouldn't trust the preloaded drives, but that's my personal preference. I think you should always download the latest software off the Avaya website as you should the most current Linux patches

since 5.5 does not have ucm you will be fine. do not deploy the ucm until you have all your servers upgraded and deploy at once or you will have issues.

I find the fastest and easiest way to do the upgrades is use spare cppm cards and prebuild everything in the lab and just swap out at time of cut over that way you know it is all up and working.

I've done what you're describing a few times. You can go as far as doing the security configuration on the primary UCM server, then join the elements as you do the upgrade. The MAC of the card has no effect on the UCM configuration or certificates.

I agree with KCFLHTK. I never trust the preloaded drives.
