cpio and multiple tapes

I am currently using cpio to backup my server, but when a third tape is requested nothing happens when I press ENTER to continue the backup. If only two tapes are needed for the backup then everything is okay, it's just that each time 3 tapes are needed the problem arises. Anyone know why this is happening and possible solutions?

Any ideas are very welcome. Thanks and regards.
