I've got a Windows 2003 server running the WINS service in a 2003 Active Directory domain. For one particular member server, it's computer name is registering in the WINS database as servername.cpe
Anybody got any idea what the .cpe is? This member server does have two network cards installed, but the second is disabled. When it was enabled it was running PCAnywhere and ZoneAlarm to allow vendor remote access, but now all that is turned off. Nbtstat -RR doesn't change anything.
Also, a Win98 client trying to map a drive to this member server is unable to find the computer, although that same computer can ping the server by name (both by netbios name and DNS name). The Dsclient utility was installed in the Win98 computer. Win2000/XP machines don't experience any problems.
Thanks in advance.
Brian
