Hi everyone,

CICS 6.1 & CP100 rel2, 7316 sets. I have created a Guest mbox for an Information Systems helpdesk, which does not have a phone tied to it. The IT guys login to this mailbox to pickup the messages. The mbox # is 3000. However, when internal users try to call mbox 3000 from norstar I/C dialtone to leave a message for IT, it says "invalid #". External users can transfer to this mbox from the AA by dialing 3000. Why can't the Norstar pass this request (when an internal user dials 3000) to the CP? Now, the users have to hit "leave message" and then dial 3000 to get the mbox.

Thanks,
Matthew

The key is that there isn't an extension tied to the mailbox. The phone system is tied to the voicemail but they are two seperate machines. An easy way to get around this without needing a phone is to make extension 3000 an analog port and in Capabilities set the call forward no answer to the voicemail DN (2 rings). You can also check out the FAQ section for other options. When you build mailbox with no extension the only way to get to it is Feature 980 for dialing it internally or Feature 986 for transfering a call to the mailbox. Hope this helps.
