Hey All,
Latest and greatest CICS 8X16 w/lastest versn sftwr, w/CP100 latest softwre..The system sees port 116 DN236 as IDLE..which is where Ive terminated rj11 A from CP100 onto phone system..BUT....port 115 DN 235 shows DEVICE NONE and STATE UNEQUIPPED for this DN which is where I've terminated rj11 B from CP100..and I'm only able to "Feature 985" from two sets at same time....I tried to disable port and re enable but still nothing...any suggestions?

Did you reboot both systems together again?

Have you plugged phones into those ports? Are they working? See this thread...thread799-937685

I don’t know if it makes a difference, but I always put my ports in ascending order (235-A, 236-B)..so you may want to try that.

Should have CP port A on 115 and port B on 116. Logical sequential numbering.

Do you see the light on in the CP for port B? If yes try rebooting CP. If not, try changing the cord, if still not... try plugging a set into that line cord of port B. If phone doesn't work... bad port CICS or bad punch down at the frame. if phone works bad port on CP100.

I would guess that it does make a difference, because otherwise Nortel would not have such screwy setup on the 150. I would change your ports-A:235, B:236.

I'm off site now but..what I did was took the working port on the CICS which is port 116..DN 236..(which showd STK1 from set under maint(device)(idle)unplugged it from the cp 100 port A..and plugged it into B and rebooted CP100..The CP was showing UNEQUIP now on the CICS from my phone set....I think this would conclude that port B on the CP100 is bad...this would eliminate trying a phone in port 116(dn236) as we know this is a working port..
As it stands..light on CP100 A is on and is currently connected to port 116 (dn236) and voicemail has been set up.. I'll be contacting the vendor on Mon to swap out the CP100...Do you still think I should change CP100 A to port 115(dn235)? Would this cause an issue? Also I don't think I can backup from one CP100 to another CP100 right????

Thanks all

Yes, I think your ports should go in ascending order, even if you replace the CP. If you have ever installed a CP150, you know that the ports have to go in a particular order, so I would assume the CP100 is the same.

Thanks bkrike..
I've never installed the CP150. I'll try that tmrrw morning and see.

Just a thought, Did you double check that you have a 4 conductor line cord & a 4 conductor jack?

He's working on a CP100. I just mentioned the 150 as an example of the need for the correct port order.
(so if he is using line cords, 2 conductor will work)

I would let the vendors tech trouble-shoot the problem in the normal logical steps normally taken by qualified techs, rather than changing out a possibly good piece of equipment because of non standard install.

Update: I'm using two conductor line cords using red green of line cords..
I tried to move CP100 A onto port 115/dn235 and CP100 B onto port 116/dn 236 and rebooted CP100. I waited 30 min..but the LED's never came up on the CP100 A/B and the phone system wasn't seeing the CP100.

The only instance (still) that the CP100 works is when port 116/DN236 is punched onto CP100A.
I think my ultimate scenario is to have vendor test another CP100 box and I try to initialize that onsite..
Or have Vendor support suggest something else...however, I did have vendor tech support try and troubleshoot while I was onsite..but no status change.

You can’t just move VM ports on the system (if it is original or replacement). You have to remove the features from the CICS and re-install the call pilot. I also agree that it may be time to get a Nortel vendor out there.

One side not on this. Punching down flat satin line cord to a termination block is always a bad idea.
Put two stick jacks or a duplex jack box near the CP and run crosswire from the jacks to the termination block. Then just plug in your line cords to the appropriate jacks.

Flat satin uses stranded cable which is not good for use in jacket displacement termination. It tends to flatten out and not get a good connection.
