I know how to create coverage groups but how do I assign an extension to a coverage group? Let’s say a call comes in on 3002 and I want 2214, 2215, 2216, and 2217 to have secondary coverage on that extension. Thanks in advance.

Is 3002 a calling group or an individual extension? If it is an extension, I would just put a secondary cover button on each of the other phones for 3002.

I have a geographical plan set up and there are actually 4 extension 3002,3004,3006,3007 that i need another group of extension to cover and i am out of buttons

is it possible to have an extension ring 3 times at the primary coverge then ring a coverage group? IF that happens will the voice mailbox for that extension still answer if no one from the coverage groups picks up?

Yes - it is possible to set up coverage groups (instead of cover buttons) - but, no it will not go to voicemail if someone in the group doesn't answer. You can use a loop around trick to get a different autoattendant to answer, but it will only loop once - meaning the AA should offer only the option to leave a message in the general mailbox - and you can assign that mailbox to 3002 or whatever. Problem is , you only have 4 AA's total(3 extra beyond, the main AA1 - if you have a Magix Messaging) and you have 4 coverage groups.
