Is there a way to see what coverage group an extension is in? I have an extension that they now want to have a voice mail box for. So I set up the voice mail box (remotely - they are 900 miles away from me) and they are telling me that the calls are not going to voice mail. This must be the coverage group the manuals are telling me about but I don't: a) know what coverage to give them and b) how to do it. I know it has to be done from the main console and as long as I have the written instructions - I can fax them up to them.

Sorry for such a simple question - but I am a Definity Administrator and did not set up any of the 12 Merlin's at our branches.

Thanks in advance for your response.

Usually the voicemail coverage group is 30. I would have them check that first. To get there - have them (at the main console): press menu, system programming, start or exit, extentions, more or right arrow, group cover, 30 enter, key in the extention number that needs mail coverage & press enter - then have them press inspect to see if the other extentions covered by voicemail are in that group. Then exit out by pressing home.

If you connect remotely - you could print a single extention's report for one of the covered extentions - and it would show you what coverage group number is being used.

Thanks - I'll have them give it a try.

Coverage Group was the ticket - thank you!

Question - my user stated there was no 'inspect' to press. This is a Merlin Magix system - does that make a difference?

Candice

On the Magix digital phones, inspect must be programmed on a button, it is not "built in" like the Legend MLX phones.

I usually program the blank button right below "Night Service" as "Inspect". The "Inspect" button is an extremely useful feature - and should be programmed on all - but maybe 4406 phones.

Thanks to all for your help.
One last question - does Avaya offer any training on the Merlin Magix systems? I could probably get my company to pay for it since I have 12 of them!

I assume you can get training - check out the Avaya.com website. However, keep in mind that they discontinued the Magix system in April of this year.

Some of us "old timers" hire out once in a whileif Avaya doesn't still offer it.

In fact, the last time i did Magix training was for Avaya, but they haven't asked for more than a year.

So, who knows?

cshine,
I have a tip for you about training.
