I have an ext that was somehow moved out of coverage group 30 and into coverage group 2. I don't know how this happened, but it causes that extension to ring about 10 times before it goes into voice mail.

What is the difference between cover group 2 and 30 ? Also, how do I get this ext back to cover group 30 ?

thanks
Bill

Sys Prog > Exit > Extensions > Group Cover > 30 Enter, enter Extension now in cover group 2, that will pull it from cover group 30.
It has to be manually placed into cover group 2, and it could have been for a reason. If there are no other extensions in cover group 2, it is probably a goof. If there are several extension in cover group 2, you need to find out why. Cover groups provide the same coverage for all extensions in them. 30 is usually used for voice mail. the other 29 can be used for a whole lotta stuff, but in your case is most likely a fluke. Your advice resolved the problem.

Can you elaborate a bit on what the coverage group does and where in the system I could learn what the attributes are for a given cover group.

Thanks for your help,

Bill

Coverage is a system of answering calls when the phone is not answered. Cover groups are a bunch of extensions that have the same coverage when they are not answered, typically voice mail. Here, a voice mail calling group is set to handle calls from one or more cover groups. When this is in play, any extension in the cover group, usually 30, gets coverage to voice mail. Another use is when a group of phones in the warehouse, for example, don't have voice mail, but the supervisor covers them if not answered. In this case, all floor phones go into cover group, say number 1, and the supervisor gets a button on his phone to cover calls in group 1. Each phone can be adjusted to ring more or fewer times before coverage is activated, but they all eventually go to the supervisor, if unanswered. The Legend / Magix manual has a lot to say about coverage, if you need more. TipHelp@charter.net
