How can you make the display show the caller's actual phone number on an extension that is ringing because it has primary cover for another? On extension say 318 and 356, we have a cover for a phoneless phantom adjunct 320. When a call comes in for 320, 318 and 356 ring, but their displays only say that it is a coverage call for 320. How do I get the actual number for the external call coming in? We have a merlin magix system with service provided by a fractional T1 and DIDs. We have Avaya 4404d+ and 4424d+ phones. When a call is placed directly to 318 or 356, the calling number is displayed.

How is your T1 configured?

As a PRI ISDN or conventional channels with E/M signalling?

For the Legend/Magix equipped with T1 you will only get Caller ID on PRI ISDN.

It is not supported on conventional or SUPERTRUNK by any CO switch.

Hope this helps!

Yes. We have a PRI ISDN. And I already do get caller ID on all my individual extensions.
My question is about when you have programmed a coverage button for an ext say 320 on another phone say ext 301, and then a call comes in for ext 320 (the ext being covered), when 301 rings for 320 the display just shows COV 320 (coverage for 320). If 301 had been called directly, the callers number would show. How do you get the display to show the caller id info on the 301 ext instead of just COV 320?

Because of the illogic of the cover button, I don't think answering one will ever display caller ID. (I am guessing here)

What you might try is using general call pickup of 320 from the SA button and see if the caller ID info shows up.

Unfortunately the Features manual doesn't provide any real info about the interactions of caller ID on PRI or loop-start trunks for the Legend.

Maybe Merlinman has some additional info or can try some of these things in the lab.

Hope this helps!

After the call is ringing on the covering extension, try pressing the more button on the digital display phone.....that would be labeled more for a mlx phone or the right arrow for a 44xx phone. If you have an ETR set, you are SOL... Never had this issue, but this works for calling groups.
