Covad Losing DSL connection on Netopia Router?

I have sdsl through Covad running through a Netopia router. This morning 2-11-04, our internet connection went down for about 2 hours. When I called, they told me they were having problems in the Michigan area and to power cycle my router. After awhile, the service returned. For most of the day, it was working, but in the afternoon it again went down. I power cycled the router and it again came back on after about 10 minutes. It than went down three more times at 4:30, 5:30 and 9:00.

I was wondering if anyone was having any similar problems with Covad or the Netopia router.

How far are you from the CO? I've had Covad sell SDSL to customers, only to find that the customer premesis is too far for reliable SDSL at any speed. IDSL was their next move, which works.

It is also possible that they told you truth, though I have to say that "Michigan" is a rather large area to have problems. Generally it'll be an area code, a CO, or a swtich/DSLAM
