I do not own MS PUB
But would like to evaluate or get a trail of MS publisher to play with... Is this possible?

I have a client that uses it.. and prints out their real estate 'Rental and House Listings"

1) It appears that when save to HTLM.... The results is all the blnaks are removed and the listing format is gone.. squeshed together.. Maybe they can or need to create a better template with tabs or tables so that the HTML format is the same as the printed

Is this possible?

2) Also is it possible to directly FTP a PUB file save to Html directly to the host server... It appears that I can save to HTML and then the client can or culd use some kind of FTP application...

I am just looking at consulting the client they have MS PUB... They cann't find or mislaid the book and no documentation... I haven't been able to get into their computer and play with their verion or evne know the version they are using yet.

Any help is appreicated

Thanks

Microsoft offer an evaluation version of their software? Not very likely :p

Publisher has some very bad habits when it comes to HTML conversion. Two of the worst things are that it creates a jungle of nested tables on even the simplest of pages and it converts text to graphics every chance it gets.

A new template would probably help the conversion a little bit. Best thing would be to create a new text box for each section of their page, that way Publisher would be forced to stay a little closer to their desired format. Also, if they are using graphics on the page, be careful that they don't let them overlap the text boxes...it causes the entire thing to be converted to a graphic.

I think FTP is possible, although I haven't actually used it in Publisher.

Except for really minor stuff, I don't usually recommend using Publisher for web pages. Your client would save a lot of time and headaches in the long run by investing in FrontPage or something similar and then using cut & paste to transfer their listings into it.
