Sorry if this is an old chestnut folks but can't find it in FAQ.

In a report I want to count the number of instances of the first grouping level of records.

So if the database is grouped by say Destinations and then lists the number of travellers to each destination I want to count the number of destinations.

If the field is called Destinations and I use Count[Destinations] I get the value of destinations x number of travellers.

Thanks for your diligence.

I would assume you have the count field on the detail line where you are breaking. Did you try COUNT(*)?

Remember when... everything worked and there was a reason for it?

Add a text box to your Destinations group header.
Name: txtCountDest
Control Source: =1
Running Sum: Over All
Visible: No

Add a text box to your report footer:
Control Source: =txtCountDest

doctorswamp,
I have done what dhookom has done in the past and it works fine. I was thinking FORM not report. Sorry.
